Since 2011, the restaurant "La Croix ou Pile" in Marchiennes forest has been offering its customers a special “Scarpe-Escaut” menu.

 

 
 
 
 

Cheese and other dairy products, meat and baby vegetables, the list goes on! In the special "Scarpe-Escaut" menu offered by La Croix ou Pile restaurant, all products come from the local area. The restaurant obtains its ingredients from farmers in communes within the Regional Nature Park. The aim is to allow diners to enjoy seasonal produce from nearby, making the most of what the locality has to offer. No need to bring in carrots or veal from the other end of France. Everything is purchased on the spot and cooked with superb skill.

 

Two other outlets, the caterer "Autrement Bon” based in Millonfosse, a commune within the Regional National Park, and the sandwich shop “Littles” in Valenciennes are also committed to offering local produce.
