The Scarpe

Natura 2000

The territory of the Regional Nature Park is structured around the Scarpe and the Escaut. While the Scarpe no longer plays a role in commercial shipping, it remains significant in a number of ways: as a route for walks and leisure activities, its management must allow preservation of its wetland areas while also limiting flooding as much as possible. In order to help preserve and make optimal use of this channel and its drainage basin, the Park develops and supports actions, notably within the framework of the Downstream Scarpe Water Management Scheme (SAGE).
